Laser fume extraction
When you laser plastics, paper or wood, a mixture of small particles and toxic gasses are formed. Where PVC is lasered an extremely corrosive HCL (Hydrogen Chloride) gas is produced.
Small particles less than 1µm (micron) in diameter are formed by marking glass or metals.
The gaseous organic compounds produced are known as Volatile Organic Compounds, VOC's need to be evacuated at the source. They are hazardous for your health and environment. They can even damage the working of your laser machine.
The different filters in an evacuations system are to eliminate small particles, glue fumes and toxic gasses
The efficiency of the pre filter is directly related to the life of the HEPA in that the more particulates captured in it, the less can pass through and prematurely block the HEPA.
The HEPA filters are used to filter and hold particles 99.997% with a size down to 0.3 microns and 95% as small as 0.1 micron.
Most standard chemical filters are made up of a 50/50 mix of Activated Aluminum Potassium Permanganate and Active carbon. The media neutralizes a broad base of chemicals and VOC pollutants. Where PVC is lasered a third gas media should be introduced.
